Does a Pico Laser Use Filters?
IPL machines commonly use optical filters. Pico and Q-Switched Nd:YAG systems more commonly use wavelength heads, focusing tips, spot-size lenses and fractional optics.
When a seller says the machine has “four filters,” ask for the function of each attachment.
1064 nm Head
Commonly used for black tattoos, dark blue tattoos and selected deeper pigment targets.
532 nm Head
Commonly used for red, orange and selected superficial brown pigments. Extra care may be required in darker skin types.
Carbon-Peel Head
Used for carbon laser facials, also known as Black Doll or Hollywood Peel treatments. Confirm the machine mode, supplied consumables and training.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a treatment head the same as a filter?
Not usually. A head may change wavelength, focus, spot size or beam pattern.
Does more heads mean a better machine?
No. Quality and actual function matter more than the number of attachments.
What should be demonstrated before purchase?
Every supplied head, its function, spot quality and the related screen mode.
